Swim meets are an important part of being a member of Viper Aquatics. There is a big difference between swimming in practice and swimming in competition. Practices teach skills and promote endurance; swimming in meets teaches kids how to compete. All swimmers are strongly encouraged to participate in the meets that are appropriate for their age and ability. Most meets run two days (Saturday and Sunday) plus distance events on Friday evening. A given age group swims either in the morning (approximately 7:00 am until noon) or in the afternoon (approximately noon until 4:30 pm). There is usually enough variation between meets that your swimmer will have some morning meets and some afternoon meets. You can choose to participate one, two or three days of any meet. Meet packets will be posted on the web site and at each pool as soon as they are available. If you have any questions as to which meets are appropriate for your child, please speak to the coach before signing up.
All swimmers are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to attend Viper Aquatics swim meets. However, we realize that there may be circumstances that prevent your swimmer from participating one or more days of a given meet (e.g., family wedding or special event, required school activities, religious activities, out of town, etc.) We only have one meet per year that is required--it usually occurs in the fall.
Below are the Team Meets that we will be competing in this season. Please be sure to sign up using the "ATTEND THIS EVENT TAB" YOU'LL FIND AFTER CLICKING ON THE "EVENTS/MEETS" TAB ON THE TEAM WEBSITE. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO SWIM AFTER THE TEAM ENTRIES HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED. No verbal entries or deletions will be accepted. Meets may be added, changed or deleted from the schedule as needed.
